Building resilience in crisis times

As the Covid-19 pandemic struck Italy, companies suddenly found themselves in an unexpected situation. To ensure business continuity, it became essential for them to ensure as much as possible the engagement and energy of their people and to prevent possible mental health issues. Career Management firm INTOO identified some simple "preventive" tools of action and offered different types of support to help employees go through this difficult period.

The challenge

As the Covid-19 pandemic struck Italy, companies suddenly found themselves in an unexpected situation. Either they had to shut down their activities or to reorganize all possible work remotely. In addition to the obvious economic difficulties associated with the crisis, general living and working conditions for employees were impacted, with negative repercussions on the mood of the employees. To ensure business continuity, it became essential for companies to ensure as much as possible the engagement and energy of their people and to prevent possible mental health issues.

Solution

INTOO identified some simple "preventive" tools of action and offered two types of support:

  • on-line training activities in live sessions
  • a counselling and orientation service

Live, online webinars offered employees some useful tools to continue working effectively, combining their professional obligations with personal constraints, mastering time management in remote working, building their resilience and learning to build relationships in a remote environment.

Employees could also get individual support at any time through a counselling and orientation service. INTOO consultants offered a neutral and empathetic listening space to discuss personal and professional difficulties. If necessary, the consultants could direct the person towards further support options, in line with the individuals’ needs.

Outcomes

The initiative allowed individuals to better understand and manage their feelings and emotions during a particularly challenging period of time. Employees were therefore better equipped to go through the crisis and be prepared for the restart of regular activities.
